Opulent Rocker Trend Fall / Winter 2009

The 4th of 6 trends for Women this Fall / Winter of 2009 is the Opulent Rocker. The look personally reminds me of the interior of an old Russian Palace with an edgy rocker attitude, translated into actual garments. That is a mouthful however, it seems the best way that I can describe this look. Again, as with the rest of our guide take a look at your body type to get suggestions on how to wear this look while flattering your shape. The body shape guide for those who are new is located in the 40's post. Contact me if you have any questions lvstyleconsultant@gmail.com

Opulent Rocker

The feeling it elicits:

  • Luxurious
  • Rocker

Achieve this look for your shape:

Hourglass

The baroque rock is yet another waist cinched trend that will look great on you. Take advantage of the corset in a furniture inspired fabric, pair this with some leather boot cut pants or a straight skirt.

Triangle

A great thing about this look for you is that they included the tulip skirt, which narrows at the waist and billows away from your lower half. Wear this paired with lingerie inspired top that includes decorative details such as lace or interesting trimmings for a put together look.

V

As a V you will want to take advantage of the leather pants and wear those pants with a shirt that has metallic details. Try a blazer constructed of furniture inspired fabrics for chilly days.

O

O’s will also want to take advantage of the leather pants in a slimmer cut. You will want to pair this rock inspired top including metal studs or a rock inspired graphic that comes past the waist. For those who choose to wear the leather pants please do not pair this with a leather jacket as well, instead opt for a dark blazer.

Rectangle

Rectangles will want to take advantage of the body con dress thus creating curves and showing off your trim figure. For rectangles that are uncomfortable with the notion of a body con dress you may choose to wear the leather slacks with straight lingerie influenced blouse.

Accessories

  •             Rock influence
  •             Lace Boots
  •             Decorative details

Earthy Trend Fall / Winter 2009

As part of our trend series for Fall / Winter 2009 we are covering yet another prevalent trend for this season. As a reminder, the first two trends were the 40's and the 80's, now we are moving out of decade inspired fashion to natural inspiration. The trend we will look at today is Earthy. Earthy is a soft, draped trend. This trend will be very complimentary to those who are curvy as you will be able to wrap and drape over curves for comfortable sophisticated look. Again, if you are unsure of your body type please refer to the guide from the 40's post. Then look ahead and see the suggested looks for your body type in this look. For those who have questions please do not hesitate to contact me at lvstyleconsultant@gmail.com

Earthy

The feeling it elicits:

  • Comfort
  • Soft

Achieve this look for your shape:

Hourglass
As an hourglass you will want to take advantage of the wrap knits allowing them to drape around the waist thus showing off the waist. Wear the wrap as a dress or a top with a pair of cozy yet styled slacks. Keep the colors in the neutral earth tones and choose fur caplets and worn metal pieces to accessorize the look.

Triangle
As a triangle you may take advantage of some of the bulky pieces associated with this look and don them up top. These pieces include hooded cowls, fur caplets, and chunky knits. Pair these pieces with a straight slack or skirt. Worn metal pieces will make for nice accessories with these pieces to complete this look.

V
A V will want to steer clear of the bulky pieces up top, instead choose knits that are finer gauge and sleeker up top. You may want to pair this with the cashmere coat worn open, as this will create an additional diagonal line up top. As a V you may also want to pair this with a somewhat bulkier knit skirt for additional texture.

O
As an O the pieces that allow for draping and wrapping in this look will complement your shape rather well. Steer clear of the extremely bulky pieces and opt for a finer gauge knit. Allow the piece to drape over the waistline and pair this with a slimmer slack, or a nice straight skirt that ends at the knee.

Rectangle
As a rectangle you will want to take advantage of all the draping in this look however, you will want to make an effort to keep the lines straight so avoid wrapping the fabrics around the body. Instead choose a cashmere jacket worn over an earthy knit and wear this with a straight wool slack.

Accessories

  • Fur
  •             Hoods
  •             Worn Metals

80's Trend Fall / Winter 2009

As part of our trend report for Fall / Winter 2009 we will now explore the looks inspired by the 80's. At this point our readers have fashion from the 40's as well as fashion reigning from the 80's. These looks follow the same format with suggestions broken down by body type. For those who are unsure of their specific body type please refer to the guide from the 40's post. Again, these are suggested items and in spite of your body type you are in no way locked into the suggested looks. This is simply a guide to get you started.

The 80’s

The feelings it elicits:

  •             Young Rock Chic
  •             Sexy
  •             Attitude
  •             Extreme

Achieve this look for your shape:

Hourglass
When wearing the 80’s look be sure to have fun with sequence, neon, skin prints and metal studs. Choose a dress in a neon color or any of the above. Allow this dress to pull in at the waist (neckline may be asymmetrical) and pair the look with a metal studded corset belt.

Triangle
Choose a sequence blazer with some structure at the shoulder over a dress or fun T. Pair your T with a straight skirt or one that billows away from the body. Another option when wearing a T is to choose slacks / jeans in a boot or straight cut. Pair with heels with metallic studs.

V
V’s you should choose a top with a v neck in a sequence, or metallic pattern. The top should come down to about hip length. For V’s who possess a waist choose a corset belt to show off the waist, if you do not possess a waist skip the belt. On the lower half choose a straight skirt or stove - pipe slacks in a skin print, metallic, or leather. Choose metallic studded accessories for an added bit of flare.

O
An O will want to wear a straight cut blazer over a top or dress that falls past the waist. The top should be in a darker color and leave embellishments for the very top of the garment (around the neckline). If wearing a dress choose one that flows away from the body throughout the lower half and ends at the knees. For those who opt against a dress choose stovepipe slacks or straight skirt hemmed to knee length. Use accessories to integrate neon, metals, and the skin prints.

Rectangle
Rectangles will want a dress that is straight throughout the body. The rectangle may choose an asymmetrical neckline and wear this dress in anything from neon, to animal skin, to metallic, to sequence. Another option for the rectangle is to wear the sequence blazer or vest over a straight tee; this should be paired with skinny pants in denim, or leather. Liquid leggings are acceptable for those who are blessed with great legs.

Accessories

  • Corset Belts
  • Huge Glasses
  • Sequence
